Welcome to Wakelee Avenue!

This is just a temporary web page. Eventually I will be creating a web site with lots more information pertaining to relatives with the following names: Wakelee, Wakeley, Wakely, Wakelyn, Wakley, and Waklee (and maybe a few other derivations not listed here). It is my intent that the future web site will become THE SITE to find genealogical information of my relatives with any of the above names, and maybe other people who share that name as well.

I am a descendent of Henry Wakelee (or Wakeley or ...), one of the founders of Hartford Connecticut. In 1649 he married Sarah Burt, widow of Judah Gregory. In the 1650's he settled in Stratford, Connecticut. Henry supposedly was born in England about 1620. Does anyone know exactly where and when? Was James Wakelee, another founder of Hartford, really his father as suggested by Jacobis in the History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield?
